Update : Version RC2 released !
iH8sn0w released a new important update that allows iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2 users to save their ECID certificates locally, and upload them to Saurik’s servers ensuring a future firmware downgrade.
iH8sn0w’s tool is for Windows only. If you are on a Mac, and you don’t want to run Windows at all, you can use firmware Umbrella.
You can download AutoShSh RC2.
The software of iH8sn0w to grab your ShSh file signed by Apple for your Firmware 3.1.3 or 3.2 (iPad) is available.
This ShSh file (also called ECID) is signed by Apple and will permit you then in the future to restore this firmware 3.1.3 or 3.2 with iTunes without any issue when a new Firmware will be available.
- AutoSHSH 3.1.3/3.2
- for jailbroken or not jailbroken iDevice.
- Required java on your computer and an Internet connection.
- Only for Windows.
- Connect your iDevice in USB.
- Must be in Recovery mode (USB cable displayed on the screen) : Hold Home + Power button until the picture with the cable is displayed on the screen of your iDevice.
- Start the grabbing of your ShSh file.
- ECID is identify and sent to Apple server for signature.
- Save then your ShSh file on your computer.
- Note : Apple only signs the latest Firmware, then the FW 3.1.3
With this method Umbrella, you can also check if your ECID file has been well saved by Saurik.
Note :
- Firmware 3.1.2 is not signed anymore by Apple
- To leave out Recovery mode, Hold on Home + Power button until your iDevice is Off.
Why is it necessary to do it ?
For the most recent models (iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G), iTunes can only restore the latest Firmware signed by Apple.
Grabbing your signed ShSh file will permit you to restore the same Firmware for which your ShSh file was signed.
A sotware like tinyTSS will permit you also to restore an old Firmware locally with your own signed ShSh file avoiding Saurik method.
iH8sn0w had announced since a while that they were working on an update of the software iReb, in order to create your own server of verification with your signed ShSh file.
