iH8sn0w actually works on a new version of iBooty, the software of reboot for restoring a Custom Firmware iOS4 on iDevices with new iBoot (3GS, IPT2G-MC and 3G).
They will also update their software iReb for a full iOS 4 compatibility for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G and 2G (non MC).

• New version in progress of iBooty : you won't be forced to install libusb.
• This version of iBooty is designed for iPT2G(MC) and iPT3G with FW 3.1.2 only, 3.1.3 not compatible.
• iReb is a software which will permit you to downgrade your firmware iOS4 to an older one like 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 with iTunes without any errors.

You have certainly note that the Game Center (which was in iOS 4 Golden Master) is not included in the final version of the iOS 4, this Game Center is planned for Autumn.

Here is a little tutorial to know how to install this Game Center on your jailbroken iOS 4 !

The Game Center is a platform which will permit you to play with your friends, a social network mabe by Apple.

Required :

• jailbroken iOS 4.
• Game Center.app
• Know how to SSH your iPhone.

• Unzip the downloaded file above.
• Transfer the folder Game Center.app in /private/var/stash/Applications.
• Then right click on the folder and put permission 0755 in properties (use iFile, WinSCP or iFunBox).
• Reboot your iDevice.

If it does NOT work, in the folder just transfered, put permission 0777 to files french.Iprog and game center.

Install with Cydia

• Add this source : http://repo.woowiz.net/
• Install the application Game Center.

Update : Version 1.7 released ! Now compatible with models iPod Touch 2G (MC) and 3G, iDevices with new iBoot.

• Make IPSW NOR-olny : For already jailbroken users, possibility to customize only the boot logo or recovery logo.

Install this Custom firmware

- The best condition : be jailbroken with FW 3.1.3 or 3.1.2
- iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G, use iReb + iTunes.
- iPhone 3GS, modify the host files : see Saurik method.

Restore

• Shutdown your iDevice. (hold Power + Home)
• Then press at the same time on POWER + HOME
• Hold on until it displays the USB cable on your screen (Recovery Mode)
• Start iTunes 9.2
• Click on SHIFT+RESTORE  (ALT for MAC)
• Choose your Firmware .ipsw created before.
• Restore begins.

If it does NOT work, try this :

• Plug your iDevice to your computer.
• Shutdown your iDevice
• Put it in DFU mode
• The screen is black (DFU Mode)
• Start iTunes 9.2
• iTunes detects a device then SHIFT+Restore
• Choose the custom Firmware created with Sn0wbreeze.

If issues like 1015,16xx or loop on Apple logo, try this to force the install.

When its done set up your phone and you're good to go! If you need to unlock continue on to this guide.

First up, what is bootrom?
iBoot or bootrom basically fires up when you are restoring your iPhone via iTunes. This makes sure that you are flashing a firmware which is greater or equal to the current version on the phone, and that it is genuine and legit (not custom firmware).
Now the old bootrom version, which was exploited by “24kpwn” was patched by Apple in fall 2009 and so any iPhone 3GS shipped after around November last year pretty much had the new bootrom which now needs a new exploit. It was because of this that we had tethered jailbreaks on iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G (MC models) and iPod touch 3G using blackra1n on 3.1.2/3.1.3 firmware until userland jailbreak Spirit landed.
Since the exploit used by untethered userland jailbreak Spirit has now been patched by Apple in iOS 4, we are now waiting for a new exploit without which we cannot jailbreak iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 2G (MC models) and iPod touch 3G.
Ok so enough with the explanation, now lets get down and see how can we find whether we have new or old bootrom (iBoot) on iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 2G/3G. The instructions are posted below, for both Windows and Mac users.
on Windows 7/Vista/XP
Step 1: Put your iPhone into DFU Mode (not recovery mode)

• Connect your iPhone to your computer.
• Turn iPhone off.
• Start iTunes.
• Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
• Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
• iTunes will now recognize your iPhone.

Note: Your iPhone screen at this time should be blank (black in color), if not, then you are most likely in Recovery Mode, not DFU mode.
Step 2: Right Click on My Computer and click on: Properties -> Hardware (tab) -> Device Manager
Step 3: Select the “+” to open submenus tree items for “Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller”.
Step 4: Now look for “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver”, right click and select Properties.
Step 5: Go to “Details” and find “Device Instance ID”.
Step 6: Simply scroll through the string and you’ll find the bootrom version (iBoot) as shown in the screenshots below:



Step 7: If it’s 359.3, you have old bootrom. If it’s 359.3.2 or anything above that, its a new bootrom.
on Mac OS X
Step 1: Put your iPhone into DFU Mode (not recovery mode)

• Connect your iPhone to your computer.
• Turn iPhone off.
• Start iTunes.
• Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
• Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
• iTunes will now recognize your iPhone.

Note: Your iPhone screen at this time should be blank (black in color), if not, then you are most likely in Recovery Mode, not DFU mode.
Step 2: Run “System Profiler” and navigate to: Hardware -> USB (menu on left).
Step 3: At the top right under “USB Device Tree” panel click “Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode)”.
Step 4: Now down under in “Serial Number”, simply go through the string and you’ll find the bootrom version (iBoot) as shown in the screenshots below:




Step 5: If it’s 359.3, you have old bootrom. If it’s 359.3.2 or anything above that, its a new bootrom.
Note: In both the cases above, it doesn’t matter whether your iPhone is an MB model or an MC model. As long as it has 359.3 bootrom, it is iPhone 3GS with old bootrom, and if 359.3.2 or above then it is iPhone 3GS with new bootrom.

If your iPhone3G on 4.0 is really slow, chances are you enabled backgrounds in redsn0w. This causes the icons to get a nice shadow, but this shadow processing is just too much for your little old 3g. You can disable the backgrounds by editing a file.

1. SSH to \System\Library\CoreServices\SpringBoard.app and edit the file N82AP.plist
2. Alter the key "homescreen-wallpaper" to enable/disable wallpapers alter this key

     3. Save the file, respring (maybe reboot).


Install Winterboard !!!!!

Many of you have asking me how to disable Multitasking provided in the latest iOS 4.0 on their iPhone 3GS.

Here is a little and simple tutorial to get it disabled (not definitively removed) :

1. SSH to \System\Library\CoreServices\SpringBoard.app and edit the file N82AP.plist
2. Alter the key "multitasking" to enable/disable multi-tasking alter this key

     3. Save the file, respring (maybe reboot).

Planetbeing, of the iPhone Dev Team, enticed our imaginations and sparked our hopes with an exciting post on Twitter: a tweet that indicates that it is, indeed, possible to develop exploits that - get ready for this - can work far beyond the present days of the iOS 4 and well into the future of iPhone operating systems.



One hour before the tweet that jailrbreakers are just now widely becoming aware of, Planetbeing also stated: "Yay, just managed to get this out: SHA1(iphone4-bootrom.bin)= 03203a4ebc24bd2488efdaaa19f0c9589496011f (prolly same as ipad, though)." Only a few short days ago, Nick chronicled MuscleNerd and planetbeing's announcement that Comex's Spirit userland jailbreak has been ported to work on iOS 4 and, yes, the iPhone 4.


But it wasn't the bootrom exploit, meaning that Apple could patch it in a subsequent update. Thanks to the update today Planetbeing, we're now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately - and, incredibly, we're already getting this question by the truckload - there is no release time as of yet. But all eyes are now on Planetbeing to see where we will go from here. Nonetheless, the first public image of Cydia running on the iPhone 4 is still enough to keep us up all night thinking about the possibilities that now shortly lie ahead.
