Kinect’s ability to so accurately capture full-body 3D motion shouldn’t just be limited to petting pets in Kinectimals or dancing like a girl in Dance Central: For the amazing technology packed into Kinect can be used in a lot of non-gamey ways.


Two such awesome non-video-game-related applications came to light a few days ago. The first in the form of developer floemuc demoing how he is able to interact with the desktop, resize photos, twist and twirl them all which we posted about here. The second came from okreylos who showed how, through usage of open source drivers, it is possible to turn Kinect into a true 3D video camera.
