Skyfire has announced that it will follow in Opera's footsteps and bring its mobile browser onto the iPhone platform. The company claims it was "heartened" by Apple's decision to approve the third-party browser, which offers an alternative to Safari. The approval pushed Skyfire ot accelerate their projects aimed at Apple's range of devices.
The free Skyfire browser is currently available only for Windows Mobile and Symbian devices. The software boasts support for a variety of video formats, such as YouTube and Yahoo Video, along with Flash 10 and Silverlight 2.0 content.

It is unlikely that Skyfire's iPhone variant will retain all of the same functionality as the existing browser, as Apple has maintained a staunch opposition to Flash technology on its mobile devices.

Skyfire has yet to provide any specific details for the iPhone project.
